Information on this website
The information provided on this website is intended to give you general information about Silver Linings Counselling & Psychotherapy, the services I offer and topics relating to counselling, psychotherapy, wellbeing and mental health.
I aim to ensure that information on the website is accurate and up to date. However, information may change from time to time and I cannot guarantee that every piece of information will always be complete, current or free from errors.
Not a substitute for professional or emergency support
Information, articles, resources and downloadable materials available through this website are provided for general information and educational purposes only.
They are not intended to provide a diagnosis or replace individual medical, psychological, psychiatric or other professional advice.
Reading information on this website or contacting me through the website does not create a therapeutic relationship.
A therapeutic relationship begins only once we have agreed to work together and the appropriate counselling or supervision arrangements have been established.
Silver Linings Counselling & Psychotherapy is not an emergency or crisis service.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger or there is a risk to life, call 999 or attend your nearest A&E. Further crisis and mental-health support information can be found on my Emergency Support page.
Enquiries and free consultations
Submitting an enquiry or requesting a free consultation does not commit you to beginning counselling or supervision.
Likewise, submitting a request does not guarantee that I will be able to offer you a particular appointment, service or ongoing therapeutic work.
The free 15-minute consultation provides an opportunity to briefly discuss what you are looking for, ask questions and consider whether working together may be appropriate.
It is not a counselling or psychotherapy session.
Counselling and psychotherapy services
If we agree to work together, you will be provided with a separate Counselling Agreement containing the terms that apply specifically to our therapeutic work.
This includes information regarding matters such as:
-
Confidentiality and its limitations
-
Session arrangements
-
Fees and payment
-
Cancellations and missed appointments
-
Communication between sessions
-
Record keeping and data protection
-
Professional boundaries
-
Ending therapy
Where there is any difference between these general website Terms & Conditions and your individual Counselling Agreement regarding the provision of therapy, the terms of your Counselling Agreement will apply.
Clinical supervision
Clinical supervision is subject to a separate Supervision Agreement.
This sets out the professional arrangements for supervision, including confidentiality, responsibilities, fees, cancellations, professional standards and other relevant boundaries.
Trainee counsellors remain responsible for ensuring that their supervision arrangements meet the requirements of their training provider, placement and professional membership body.
Fees
Current fees are displayed on the Fees page of this website.
I reserve the right to review and change my fees. Existing clients and supervisees will be informed appropriately of changes that affect their ongoing work.
The fees and payment arrangements agreed when counselling or supervision begins will also be detailed within the relevant agreement.
Cancellations
Cancellation arrangements for counselling and supervision are provided within the relevant agreement.
Please refer to the agreement you have signed for the cancellation terms that apply to your sessions.
Information displayed elsewhere on the website is intended as a general guide and does not replace the terms agreed with individual clients or supervisees.
Online counselling and supervision
Some services may be provided online using agreed video or communication platforms.
Clients and supervisees are responsible for ensuring that they have an appropriate device, internet connection and sufficiently private environment for online sessions.
Specific arrangements relating to online work will be discussed before sessions begin and, where appropriate, included within your counselling or supervision agreement.
Children and young people
Counselling for children and young people will be arranged in accordance with appropriate professional, ethical and safeguarding considerations.
Depending upon the age and circumstances of the young person, involvement or consent from a parent or person with parental responsibility may be required.
Specific arrangements regarding confidentiality, parental involvement and communication will be discussed before counselling begins.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is an important part of counselling, psychotherapy and clinical supervision.
However, confidentiality is not absolute. There may be circumstances where information needs to be disclosed, including where there are serious safeguarding concerns, a significant risk of harm or where disclosure is required by law.
The specific limits of confidentiality will be explained in the relevant counselling or supervision agreement.
